Dr. Halpern received a BA in mathematics from Harvard College and a M.S and Ph.D. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Michigan. He has been on the faculty of the statistics department at Rutgers University and the mathematics department at Boston University. He was Vice President and Principal Statistician for Consulting Statisticians, Inc. and later PAREXEL for fifteen years. In all, Dr. Halpern has been involved in the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical trials, including screening and prevention trials, for more than 35 years. His principal research interests are in the design and analysis of radiology clinical and preclinical trials, and he has particular expertise in imaging technology evaluation.
