Andrew Eckel is a programmer at the MGH Institute for Technology Assessment, where he works on population models for pancreatic, colorectal, and lung cancer, as well as a program automating the detection of dysplasia in endomicroscopic images of the esophagus. He received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2014. His image processing program, the ErrorSpreader, which smears the colors of photos and videos, will be made open source in 2017. Eckel is also a composer and the co-founder of PoetryToMusic, an online business turning its clients’ words into songs.
